And so we cry for John Paul and Craig (Hollyoaks)

Hollyoaks' gay love story "ends" on an uncertain note as John Paul and Craig went their separate way ....

Through most fans already knew the ending, since Guy Burnet (Craig) is leaving the show, all the fans were looking to a sunset ending.

As I wrote somewhere else, I loved the ending.

Craig was a two-timing liar throughout the relationship. In reality, how many of us can put up with this type of BF/GF? I won't.

The final test in their relationship was at the airport and when JP was walking away from him and possibly out of his life, Craig still could not make himself run after him and hugged him when all that was needed to save the relationship. Craig did not and that said everything about the relationship! Craig was hugging his brother in public at the airport but would not hug his BF, John Paul - when nobody (apart from the family) at the airport knew about their relationship. Basically, Craig never loved JP enough to be able to re-assure JP even at the most crucial moments. A hug from Craig then (it does not even have to be a kiss) would have changed everything!

Still, that is SOAP and the ambiguous ending left open the possibility that when Craig sorts himself out, he will be back in a year's time (when James Sutton is leaving the show) to "re-claim" John Paul and thus the sunset ending.

Meanwhile, we stayed hooked ..... :-)
